You will be after a day of hands-on fun with science, technology, engineering and mathematics!  Tech Savvy prepares you to be a scientist, engineer, or technology expert.  A special session for your parents and families shows them how to help you on your path to college and a career.

World Fit - Register as a Buddy
World Fit® is a six-week, school-based walking and exercise program designed to encourage physical activity for elementary and middle school students in grades 3 through 8. Olympians and Paralympians act as mentors and adopt schools in the program to teach students the importance of lifelong fitness and the Olympic values of perseverance, respect, and fair play.
Register as a World Fit Buddy.  You will be able to donate your physical activity miles to a student and support this awesome endeavor.

FCPS 2014 K-PREP Dates have finally been set! Mark your calendars…SAVE the Dates!!!  Be sure all students are in attendance on:

MORTON SUMMER MATH CAMP RETURNS in 2014!!!
MATH CAMP is for ALL Morton students!

Morton will host a Summer Math Camp on July 28 – July 31 from 8:30 am until noon each day!!! We are offering an extraordinary camp with fun opportunities to broaden mathematical horizons for ALL 2014-2015 Morton students...grades 6, 7 and 8!  EVERY student will participate in fun, hands-on activities, using resources like stratoblaster rockets, graphing calculators, iPads and hands on equations while stretching his/her current mathematical skills. (Remember the tetrahedron kites from last year?!)  Students will be able to use mathematical practices to model what they learn during the 4 days of camp.  Content covered during the various sessions include integers, fractions, solving equations (hands-on), probability, area, perimeter, surface area and volume. 
The EARLYBIRD Special cost is $30 for supplies and snacks. Scholarships are available.  The cost for those registering after our Goal Date for Camp Sign-Ups, Friday, June 6, 2014, will be $40. The brochure/registration form and the photo permissions form are attached.  Please complete and return both forms with the registration.  Space is limited so make plans now to attend!!!

RED WAGON COLLECTION FOR ARBOR YOUTH SERVICES
After hearing about The Zach Bonner and his Little Red Wagon Foundation, The Mustang Club has decided to help meet the needs of homeless youth in Lexington through the Arbor Youth Services.
The Mustang Club needs your help collecting hygiene products for this amazing organization! The Arbor Youth Services organization provides a safe place for at-risk children and their families. The AYS is currently in need of: Deodorant, Soap, Hair brushes, Tooth brushes/toothpaste, Large Ziploc bags, Wash clothes/ towels, Toilet paper, Shampoo/conditioner

Zach Bonner will be at Morton on April 25th to speak to our Mustang club members about his foundation, the making of the movie and homelessness in America.  Check out his website and journey across America.  www.lrwf.org

SUMMER IS COMING!!!!!
It may seem impossible but summer will be here before we know it.  If you would like to know about summer programs available specifically for middle school students please check out the FRYSC webpage through MMS home page for links to camps or contact Mrs. Blackman at the FRYSC (859)381-3539, jill.blackman@fayette.kyschools.us Many camps offer scholarships but early registration is required!

MMS LOST AND FOUND
Our custodial staff have placed lost and found items by the front office.  Please stop by and claim what might belong to your family.  All lost and found items that remain unclaimed are donated to the Lexington Women’s Clothing Center to be redistributed to students in need.

Attendance
Be sure to call the attendance office @ 381-3535 every day if your child is absent. Also please send a note within 3 days of their return to school.

Please contact Ms. Hufnagel or call her at 859-381-3540 if you have changed your address or phone number.  If you have a change of address you must bring in a new proof of residence.
