Penny Wars!

The Green Team will be sponsoring Grade Level Penny Wars throughout the week in the cafeteria.  If you could help to explain and promote this function in your classrooms that would be awesome!  The money earned will help to support our new outdoor classroom:  three more benches, a picnic table and flower beds.

How does it work?
There will be a bucket displayed in the cafe throughout all three lunches Monday-Friday of this week.  The buckets will be labeled with the grade number on the outside.  The lids will be taped shut, but there will be a slot for students to drop coins and paper money though.  All coins are positive and the paper money is negative.  At the end of the week the coins will be counted in each bucket and the paper money will be deducted from the total of coins in each bucket.  So, please encourage your students to put coins in their grade level bucket, but paper money into the other grade level buckets!

Green Goals - Save Plastic Lids for Morton
Morton is not only continuing with our Green Goals by recycling plastic bottles caps, but now we are actually going to use these bottle caps in an effort to redo our Outdoor Classroom, which is in need of a huge make-over!  We plan to rip out the rotted wood benches and replace them with plastic benches made completely out of recyclable bottle caps.  These bottle caps can be from water bottles, Gatorade Bottles, Mayonnaise Caps, Peanut-Butter Bottle, you get the picture!  Please save them all summer and then turn them into Ms. Trisko, room 212 (7th grade science) when school resumes, or you can e-mail Ms. Trisko at carla.trisko@fayette.kyschools.us and we can arrange for you to take your caps to Morton this summer.  Thanks so much for helping us to create a Green environment!
